ALIC: Connecting and supporting language teachers in Alberta

This session will focus on the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM), a research-based approach that integrates visual literacy and vocabulary development. Participants will explore how PWIM can transform classroom practice by using images to deepen student thinking, foster discussion, and enhance understanding of complex vocabulary. We’ll explore the theory behind PWIM, analyze its key components, and discuss its application across various subject areas.
