Buddy Teachers + Buddy Classrooms = Math Success for Elementary Math
Friday February 28, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am MST
In this math games workshop you will learn the best activities and games for developing a cross graded math game buddy program. Come as a team - primary and upper elementary and learn games that engage and empower all learners. The benefit for older students include relearning basic concepts (especially great for new ELL learners), instructing younger students who benefit from 1on one teaching. For our primary students they have their own "math coach" and build relationships across the grade levels. After an overview of how we teach cross graded game classes, participants will learn a wide variety of games: a primary level and then a related/differentiated upper elementary game. Handout will contain favorite games and gameboards to help you develop this powerful 1 X week strategy. COME PREPARED TO PLAY!

Enseigner les fractions autrement
Friday February 28, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am MST
Fractions are often perceived as one of the most complex concepts to understand and teach, largely due to teaching that focuses on procedures rather than conceptual understanding. This workshop explores practical, interactive approaches to fostering a deep understanding of fractions, from grades 1 to 6. Through playful activities and enriching discussions, teachers will discover strategies to support their students in appropriating this key mathematical concept.
