Refusing a deficit model, this session will address the particular situation of neurodiverse learners in the secondary ELA classroom, suggesting curricular, environmental, affective, relational, and communicative strategies to engage such students effectively and without discrimination; these shifts in teaching may also be beneficial to all students. This talk will also consider the situation of neurodiversity among teachers.
