Welcome to GETCA 2025! We are excited to see you soon...
Thursday February 27, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am MST
Characters become real to us when we uncover their inner conflicts, their hidden fears and joys, and the small details that make up their daily lives. In this workshop, participants will create character worksheets, investigate how to uncover information about the character, and use verbal storytelling techniques to bring the character to life. This workshop will empower teachers to guide their students in creating vivid, believable characters that resonate with readers. The lessons here can also be used on existing characters in curriculum mandatory texts, as students can use the concepts of investigation and storytelling to learn more about characters in literature. Key takeaways include practical strategies for character development, techniques to inspire student creativity, and resources to integrate character-driven narratives into the classroom.
