Making and Testing Models In Physics 30
Thursday February 27, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am MST
It is said that science is the processes that allow us to make models and break them. Many of the models we present in high schools, some expressed as algebraic formulae, are somewhat idealized, and break down under closer scrutiny. In other cases we can build physical models that represent situations in which we can’t use the “real thing”. In this hands-on session, we will look at the modelling ideas involved in three Physics 30 experiments.

Explore Indigenous Perspectives with Ocean School!
Thursday February 27, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am MST
Ocean School makes free environmental education resources that engage learners in the world of ocean science. One of the main goals of Ocean School is to amplify the voices of Indigenous content creators and environmental activists through our learning resources and activities. We know it can be difficult for teachers to feel confident bringing Indigenous ways of knowing into their classrooms, so we're here to offer our resources, support, and community-building opportunities to help support teachers on this journey. In this workshop, we will connect teachers with several ready-to-go projects and activities to facilitate learning about some of the many Indigenous perspectives on ocean science and conservation here in Canada. Participants will have the opportunity to explore Ocean School's content, connect with other educators, and work on customizing an activity for immediate use in their classrooms.
