About me
Cheryll Watson is a passionate advocate for financial literacy and entrepreneurship, dedicated to empowering young people to achieve financial health and success. A proud Edmontonian, Cheryll began her career with Intuit, a global leader in financial software, where she gained invaluable insights into the critical role small businesses play in the economy. In 2015, she made a deliberate choice to give back to her community by transitioning to a leadership role at Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, where she founded Innovate Edmonton (now Edmonton Unlimited), aimed at fostering a thriving environment for tech-enabled startups. Cheryll’s experience in some of the world’s most dynamic cities inspired her to run for Mayor in the 2021 election. Following that endeavor, she played a pivotal role in establishing STEM Collegiate, a public charter school in Edmonton dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), and currently serves as the Board Chair. As the President and CEO of Junior Achievement Northern Alberta, Cheryll champions the importance of financial education at all ages. Under her leadership, JA empowers youth through comprehensive programs that teach financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career exploration, helping them navigate the complexities of the global economy.
