About me
Meet Kara Weis, the vibrant visionary behind the most engaging Project Based Learning classroom you’ve ever seen (or heard about—she promises it’s as exciting as it sounds!). With a penchant for turning ordinary lessons into extraordinary escapades, Kara is a trailblazer who believes that true learning happens far beyond the confines of traditional classroom walls. Armed with a degree in “Adventures in Education” and a minor in “Creative Chaos,” Kara has dedicated her career to transforming the learning experience for her students. She knows that the world is the best classroom, and she’s made it her mission to prove that hands-on learning, fueled by real-world experiences, can spark curiosity and engagement like nothing else. Whether it’s taking students to the local farmer's market to learn about economics or organizing community cleanup days to discuss environmental science, she’s always on the lookout for innovative ways to connect curriculum to the world outside. With her trusty sidekicks, Mme McCoy and Nibbs the dog (the unofficial classroom mascot), she encourages her students to unleash their imaginations and dive into projects that not only meet program of studies outcomes but also make a meaningful impact in their community. At this conference, Kara will share her adventures in Project Based Learning, complete with tales of triumph, the occasional misstep, and invaluable insights into how other educators can adopt this approach. You'll laugh, you'll maybe cry and you will certainly learn something new. She believes passionately that every student can thrive in a hands-on learning environment, and her goal is to help fellow educators find the joy and passion in teaching through engaging, real-world experiences.
